Selected Participant: Malaysia Cybersecurity Camp by RE:HACK
Result
I was selected to participate in the Malaysia Cybersecurity Camp organized by RE:HACK.
The programme brought together selected participants for national-level, hands-on cybersecurity training and practical technical challenges.
My contribution
During the camp, I participated in practical exercises and training covering areas such as:
- Malware analysis
- Static and dynamic file analysis
- Threat analysis lifecycle
- Active Directory security
- Active Directory attack techniques
- Cybersecurity investigation
- Practical challenge solving
- Team-based technical exercises
I worked through realistic scenarios that required more than theoretical knowledge.
The activities involved examining technical evidence, understanding attacker behaviour, identifying suspicious activity, and applying suitable investigation or exploitation techniques.
I also collaborated with other participants during technical exercises, exchanged approaches, and learned from instructors and cybersecurity practitioners.
Why it matters
Being selected for the Malaysia Cybersecurity Camp was one of my most valuable cybersecurity learning opportunities.
It allowed me to gain practical exposure to areas directly related to my career interests, particularly malware analysis, reverse engineering, digital forensics, and threat investigation.
The camp also helped me understand how different cybersecurity disciplines connect. Malware analysis, threat intelligence, system security, and Active Directory attacks are not isolated topics; they are often part of the same incident or investigation.
This experience strengthened my interest in pursuing technical cybersecurity roles involving malware analysis, DFIR, reverse engineering, and offensive security.
