My First Two-Hour Cybersecurity Talk

I recently had the opportunity to become one of the speakers for the Road to White Hat Gen 6 workshop organized by UiTM Cyberheroes Club.

This was my first time speaking in front of a crowd for almost two hours continuously.

To be honest, I am usually not very confident when speaking in front of many people. I was worried that I would forget what I wanted to explain, move too quickly through the slides, or suddenly run out of things to say.

However, once the session started, I slowly became more comfortable.

Instead of reading directly from the slides, I tried to explain the topics using my own experiences with CTF competitions, digital forensics, challenge creation, and cybersecurity projects. I also walked around the room while speaking and answered questions whenever participants needed clarification.

At some points, I had to improvise because not everything followed the exact plan. Surprisingly, those moments helped make the session feel more natural. I realized that giving a workshop is not about memorizing a perfect script. It is about understanding the topic well enough to explain it in different ways.

The session also reminded me that teaching is one of the best ways to test your own understanding. When someone asks a question, you need to think about why something works instead of only knowing the steps required to do it.

Although I was nervous at the beginning, I genuinely enjoyed the experience. Seeing participants listen, ask questions, and attempt the activities made the preparation worthwhile.

I would like to thank the committee members of UiTM Cyberheroes Club for organizing the workshop and trusting me to become one of the speakers. I would also like to thank all the participants who attended and interacted throughout the session.

This experience gave me more confidence in public speaking, and I hope it will not be the last workshop where I get to share what I have learned.
